FOUNDER & LICENSED THERAPIST
Shawn Eaton
Attachment Focused Online Therapy for Adults and Couples in Michigan and Florida.
You can understand what you want to do differently and still get pulled into the same reaction when emotions take over. Anxiety, shutdown, self criticism, or disconnection can keep showing up even when you know they are getting in the way.
I help adults and couples slow those moments down, understand what is happening underneath them, and find ways of responding with more choice and connection.

WAYS WE CAN WORK TOGETHER
Therapy for the Patterns That Keep Repeating
My work is for people who can often explain what is happening but still feel pulled into reactions that are hard to change in the moment.

Individual Therapy
Anxiety, trauma, depression, emotional shutdown, self criticism, anger, life transitions, and substance-related concerns when they are part of the larger picture.

Couples Therapy
Recurring conflict, emotional distance, broken trust, shutdown, or the feeling that the same conversations keep taking over when the relationship matters most.
ATTACHMENT-FOCUSED THERAPY
I Pay Attention to What Happens Beneath the Reaction
My work is grounded in attachment based psychotherapy, with a primary focus on Emotionally Focused Therapy for individuals and couples. Rather than treating reactions as defects to eliminate, we look at how they developed, what they protect, and why they keep making sense in the moment.
I am certified in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy and have completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. The goal is not to become a different person or handle every emotion perfectly. It is to have more choice, clearer emotional understanding, and stronger connection when the old pattern appears.
IN SESSION, THAT OFTEN MEANS

Slow the moment down
We look closely at what happens just before the familiar reaction takes over.

Make sense of the protection
Anger, shutdown, overthinking, or people pleasing often make more sense when we understand what they are trying to prevent.

Build a different experience
We practice being more direct, responsive, and connected in the moments that usually go off track.
You don't have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or know where to begin.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
A Therapy Space That Feels Real
I am active and emotionally present in sessions. I will slow down with you, name patterns honestly, and make room for the parts of your experience that are harder to reach alone.
Willing to stay with what matters instead of rushing past it
Collaborative, with your input shaping the work
Focused on what changes outside the therapy room
Warm, direct, and down to earth

WHY THIS WORK MATTERS TO ME
Therapy Should Make Room for What Is Actually Happening
Earlier in my career, I worked in hospital based substance use treatment and saw how often people received help for the immediate crisis without enough space to understand the emotional and relational experiences underneath it.
That experience shaped the kind of therapist I wanted to become. I believe people should not have to perform, defend their pain, or fit themselves into a program before they can be understood. Therapy can be clinically grounded and still feel honest, human, and connected.
